Here is a video showing the advantages that occur when there is a shooter stationed in the corner of the same side of the floor that the pop man goes to on a pick and pop action. I observed this concept by watching film of Brad Stevens Boston Celtics team from the 2015-2016 season.
The reason that this action is effective is because there is one defensive player left on the weakside of the floor to guard 2 different scoring threats. The defender guarding the weakside corner is left in a bind because they are responsible to help on the pop man since there are two men on the ball, but if that corner defender leaves the shooter, a better shot can occur.
